Welcome to the movement!
Forwarding the effort towards social justice through performances which are deeply rooted in the art of ensemble collaboration and artistic risk, we produce contemporary works of theatre that focus on opening minds, questioning perspectives and confronting beliefs.
INSPIRED. CHALLENGED. ENRICHED. ENTERTAINED.
We truly want you to feel these things when you step through our doors.
We embrace and respect diversity, inclusion, and equity and we want everyone to feel welcome.
Our commitment to choosing contemporary, universally relevant, immediately and thoroughly engaging, socially conscious content is the cornerstone of what we do at Chapel Theatre Collective.
We hope our dedication to artistic expression and to the community at large will bring you back again and again to see our work — and to support us!

Maude, a fifty-something unemployed bartender living in a trailer park, has bought a painting for a few bucks from a thrift store. Despite almost trashing it, she’s now convinced it’s a lost masterpiece by Jackson Pollock… and worth millions. But when world-class art expert Lionel Percy flies over from New York and arrives at her trailer home in Bakersfield to authenticate the painting, he has no idea what he is about to discover.
Inspired by true events, this hilarious and thought-provoking new comedy-drama asks vital questions about what makes art and people truly authentic.

You think you know your friends, your neighbors, your spouse, but what happens when you suddenly find out they have a garage full of guns? This new dark comedy explores the complicated issue of gun proliferation when two young liberal couples are forced to confront their assumptions about who should own a gun — and why.
The time of easy answers regarding this issue is long gone. In the wake of current events, we are all forced to reexamine our strongly held beliefs about gun ownership. Friends With Guns explores the question of what we can compartmentalize…and what we can’t. It pulls the curtain back and does all of this through a female lens.

When Amelia’s mother receives Compassionate Release from her prison sentence, Amelia’s carefully constructed world is threatened. Twenty-six years of living vicariously through her beloved TV characters doesn’t prepare her for the actual drama of her mother’s return or the advances of a charming co-worker. The ticking clock of her mother’s illness means Amelia must decide if her fictional life is safer than her reality.
